The Panasonic Viera TX-P50G10 - A Review

By: Andrew Emerson

The wide viewing angle of the Panasonic TX-P50G10, when combined with the networking capabilities of this model, make for one of the top LCD televisions on the market. It has been reviewed by many and given the thumbs up for excellent quality on its images. This plasma television is perfect for all kinds of media, not just movies. The picture quality of the TX-P50G10 is crisp and clear, with fantastic image quality.

The plasma cells within the NeoPDP screen are able to produce a much brighter picture than the predecessors without NeoPDP capabilities. This screen brightness is often reserved for higher end models of plasma screens. Even though the light is almost blinding, around half of the energy is used as in other models of TVs with this type of plasma screen. Besides being energy efficient, the amount of connections placed on the back of this Panasonic are extremely numerous.

Placed on the rear side of the TX-P50G10 is a slot for an SD card, places for 3 HDMI inputs, and the Freestat tuner is built into the system so no port is needed. The Freestat tuner enables owners of satellite dishes to view satellite television without having to pay for a monthly subscription. With the Freeview function, image stability is top of the line, plus screen noise is extremely low. The resolution and picture clarity are top notch as well.

With the help of the 600 Hz technology, HD motion is fantastic and images contain a full 1080 lines of resolution. The image analysis capabilities of this Panasonic model provide extreme clarity of movies filled with action sequences. This happens due to the motion from every scene being converted into data that allows for the sub-field to be optimized. The result is then full-HD resolution provided for every action packed scene. The aftereffects are reduced by the shortened display time for each frame.

In movie scenes where the balance between light and dark is hard to maintain, the Real Black Drive system is capable of combining with the NeoPDP technology in order to render images the way a director would want them.

Every scene is rendered and increases the picture quality, when combined with the NeoPDP technology. This Real Black Drive system is an automatic feature and doesn't need to be adjusted. All other aspects of the television are controlled by the remote control.

There is a remote control for making any kind of adjustment to the TX-P50G10. The buttons and labeling above each button is very clear. There are buttons for everything, but not so many that it's hard to distinguish one from the other. Anything that attaches to the Panasonic TX-P50G10 can also be controlled with the remote, even digital cameras. Panasonic produces a digital camera that can connect to this television for easy viewing of the photos stored on it.
