Baby Carriers - Be Safe

By: Marva McEldowney

You may ask yourself, "What is the best way for me to carry my baby?" You really only have two choices to narrow it down to. A rigid framed backpack style, or a wrap/sling style carrier. A lot depends on your lifestyle and the activities you plan to include your baby in, along with the age of your baby. The sling/wrap style allows a closer bond with your child, as well as a lighter device.

But, if you are hiking or off on some excursion, the backpack style comes in handy. It will add more weight with its incorporated frame, but will give more protection in a more rugged environment. It will give more support and most backpacks have multiple adjustments to give you a perfect and safe fit for you and the child.

Also you must consider the age of your baby. Newly born babies should be close to the parent's body and this is where a sling is mandatory over a backpack. Adjustments to a sling style carrier can sometimes take more time to adjust if two parents are sharing the same sling style carrier. Even though the sling style carriers that incorporate a ring device is easier to adjust, slippage is less likely to happen when using a carrier that does not use the ring device.

Their are many many choices for your baby and it may feel overwhelming, but it isn't as hard as it looks. Find one you like, pick the fabric that you like and begin you new quest with the bundle of love you are in charge of protecting.
